Abstract

1436769 Laminated electrical panel G E ELFVERSON 7 Aug 1973 [8 Aug 1972] 37387/73 Heading B5N [Also in Divisions F4 G5 and H2] A panel for distributing electric power to electrical devices comprises insulating plates alternating with conductive sheets, and means accessible from at least one edge of the panel to permit conducting sheets to be connected to an electric supply on to conducting sheets of an adjacent panel. Transpierceable, insulating plates 1 may be made of semi-rigid material such as polystyrene or expanded polyurethane or phenol formaldehyde, but must preferably be waterproof and non-flammable. Conducting sheets 2, which may include lattices and nettings, may be of commonly used electrical metal or alloy, typically 0À1 mm. thick. The panel A may be assembled with adhesive, and a decorative insulating skin 3 may be applied to a face. Semicircular recesses 4 in the plates 1, Fig. 1, house sockets 6 connected and attached to the sheets 2 so as to nest in upset edge portions 5. The sockets 6 may be used for connecting power supplies, or for coupling adjacent plates A, B, Fig. 3, with pegs 9. The panel may be used to supply a plurality of electric bulbs (see Division H2) each having a stem portion comprising a pair of coaxial conductors of unequal lengths, the stem portion in use being caused to penetrate the panel to a predetermined depth, so that each conductor pierces a selected one of the conductive sheets and makes contact with it.
