Abstract

1436731 Vehicle frames; bodies; retractable suspensions EEZION Ltd 4 July 1974 [16 April 1973] 18247/73 Headings B7B and B7D [Also in Division B8] A vehicle with a low level or ground level loading capability is constructed by rigidly connecting a loading platform 12 having at its rear end a single or double axle retractable suspension to a traction head unit 10 including a cab body 11 which houses an engine and is mounted on a chassis having a single axle, the vehicle pivoting about the axle of the traction head unit when the loading platform suspension is retracted. The traction head chassis includes two side members 25 each provided with an upper side plate 27 carrying a cylindrical boss 28 and a lower connecting member 29 having a location piece 30 with a tapered bore 31. Bolts 34 pairing through the bosses 28 and location pieces 30 respectively and through apertures in upstanding box members 32 at the front end of the loading platform 12 secure the loading platform to the traction head unit 10. The retractable loading platform suspension may be of the kind described in Specifications 1,353,108 or 1,379,576.
