Abstract
1436530 Sucrose preparation P G Y TRIANA 3 Jan 1975 [28 May 1974] 183/75 Heading A2D A method of obtaining sucrose comprises freeing sugar cane of extraneous matter, chopping up the cane into pieces with means which do not contain oxidisable iron, washing, sterilising and passing the pieces through a cleaned and sterilised stainless steel sugar mill to give pure sugar cane juice to which ascorbic acid is added in an amount sufficient to prevent oxidation of the aromatic aldehydes present in the juice. Sucrose may be crystallized from the solution thus obtained, for example by freezing.
