Abstract

1436326 Rotary offset machines; gripper assemblies RONEO VICKERS Ltd 21 May 1973 [23 May 1972] 24274/72 Heading B6C In a rotary offset press the gripper assembly 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 on the impression cylinder 44 is formed as a carriage and so mounted that it may be bodily moved circumferentially of the cylinder in order that the leading edge of the copy sheet 1 about to be printed may be adjusted relative to the plate cylinder for registration purposes. Such adjustment is effected during operation of the press by manipulation of a screw 24 which, through linkages, simultaneously causes the adjustment of the timing of the formation of a paper feed pinch between copy paper feed rollers 33 and 34 and the circumferentially advancement or retardation of the gripper assembly. Changing of the timing of the feed pinch is effected when the lever 45, Fig. 3, is moved as a consequence of moving the screw 24 such that the cam roller 40 is moved circumferentially of the cam wheel 41. This changes the moment of operation of the roller 40 when the latter drops into the rebate of the cam wheel 41 and allows the spring-loaded feed roller 33 to move downwardly into contact with the feed roller 34. Circumferential displacement of the gripper assembly carriage is effected by axial movement of a bar 15, Fig. 1, which is derived from movement of a pressure plate 18 moved by the screw 24. Cams 13 on the bar 15, engages rollers 14 to translate the longitudinal movement of the bar into the circumferential movement of the grippers.
