Abstract
1435964 Coil winding machine; shearing G CAMARDELLA 27 April 1973 [3 May 1972] 20229/73 Headings B3A and B3W A coil winding machine comprises an indexible turret T supporting coils in gripping devices which are adjustable to set the coil cores 29 with respect to various operations of the machine, the coils being mutually connected by the winding wire (21), Fig. 2 (not shown). Coil cores are loaded from a machine at position 1, Fig. 1, overturned at 2, wound at 4 using a winding machine 5, overturned at 6, twisting devices 9, 10 are operated at 7, 8, and positions 11-15 are a repetition of positions 2, 4, 6-8 for carrying out a second winding on the same coil. At 16 the coil is overturned 180 degrees, the coil terminals are immersed in flux at 17, and at 19 they are immersed in a tin bath. The finished coil is unloaded at 20 automatically by a device 20a. The wire (21) running between the coils, over an elastic take-up device (22), is twisted and cut at positions 14, 15. The gripping devices comprise a pivot 23, Fig. 4, carrying a ring gear 26 which co-operates with a rack (39), Fig. 5 (not shown). A support bracket 25 and plate 24 are mounted on the pivot and arms 28a, 28b are provided for gripping a coil core by its base flange 30. A cylinder 6a acts on pin (36), Fig. 3 (hot shown) at 6, 13 to overturn the core and a cylinder 3 acts on the pin in the opposite direction at 2, 11. Adjustable stops 37, 38 are provided for limiting movement of the oscillating gripper 28. The bracket 25 is rotated by movement of rack (39) which affects ring gear 26, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown). The twisting and cutting unit comprises a rotating bush twisting device 40, Fig. 7, rotated by a motor 41, both the device and motor being mounted on a plate 42 integral with a slide 43. An air cylinder 45 provides for their vertical movement on a shaft 44. Oscillating arms 46, 47, which form the cutters, are actuated by contact between rollers 50, 51 and respective cams 56, 57 caused by activation of a cylinder 55. Respective arms 46, 47 comprise a pad (67), Fig. 9 (not shown) of friction material and a presser (66) resiliently biased by a device (68) ensuring that wire (21) is firmly held. Upon downward movement of slide 43 the lower end of cam 63 acts on roller 51 to rotate arm 47 and twisting device 40. Blades (69), (70) are closed to cut the wire and this is followed by immediate twisting.
