Abstract
1435780 Floating breakwaters BRIDGESTONE TIRE KK 13 Sept 1973 [19 Sept 1972 30 Sept 1972 9 May 1973] 42977/73 Heading E1H A floating breakwater which is moored to the sea bed comprises a plurality of spaced parallel elongate bodies formed from upper and lower portions 15, 16 respectively and connected together by a plurality of spaced elongate cylindrical members 17, the upper portions 15 being arranged to project in use above water level by at least half the height of the ambient waves by choosing the ratio of flotation and ballast materials in the upper and lower portions, the specific gravity of the breakwater being arranged to lie between 0.15 and 0.75. The ballast material is preferably water and the flotation material a synthetic resin foam. Additional ballasting material may be earth, sand, concrete, or iron blocks.
