Abstract

1435716 Construction of buildings AUTOMATED CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRIES Inc 27 April 1973 20091/73 Heading E1A [Also in Division F2] Two structural elements each of which has an outer skin of a cured hardened unsaturated polyester are joined by applying to at least one of the elements an adhesive and maintaining the two elements in abutting relationship with the adhesive sandwiched therebetween until the unsaturated polyester of the adhesive cures, the adhesive comprising more than 50% by weight of a hardenable unsaturated polyester for fusing the structural elements together; an inert filler for thickening the polyester and for preventing running of the polyester during application; and a second inert filler for additionally thickening the polyester and for improving the fire retardation of the adhesive. In a particular application a plastics house is made by joining together floor, wall and roof elements. Preferably each element has an inner core of foamed polyurethane. The preferred adhesive comprises polyester resin, expanded silica and titanium dioxide, using methyl ethyl ketone peroxide as catalyst.
