Abstract

1435579 Stabilized vinyl chloride polymers BASF AG 18 Sept 1973 [19 Sept 1972] 43638/73 Heading C3P A thermoplastic moulding material comprises an emulsion polymer of vinyl chloride, 0À05 to 1 % of calcium magnesium or zinc formate, and a known stabilizer against heat and light. The formate may be added to the polymer emulsion as an aqueous solution or by spraying a solution on to the polymer during the drying process. In examples the polymer is polyvinyl chloride, the stabilizer is dioctyl tin thioglycollic acid ester, a lead stabilizer, cadmium/zinc or barium/ cadmium stabilizer, amino crotonic acid ester or diphenyl thio urea. Other additives include sodium carbonate, montan wax, hydrocarbon wax, dicarboxylic ester, dioctyl phthalate, epoxy plasticizer and calcium stearate.
