1435369 Displaying articles M FUJIO 25 Sept 1973 [2 Nov 1972] 44856/73 Heading A4T [Also in Division B8] A heat-shrinkable packaging comprises a rigid substrate board 1, made e.g. of a rigid plastics, or paper plate, or a metal sheet, and a heat-shrinkable cylinder 2 of plastics material which is secured, e.g. by heat adhesion, adhesive, or a pin, or the like, to the surface of the substrate board 1. As shown, a cylinder 2 of heat-shrinkable plastics, formed by cutting a tube of suitable length or, bonding sheets together appropriately and made a little shorter, or longer, than the article 4 to be packaged, is bonded at 3, to the rigid board 1. In the case where the cylinder 2 is longer than the article all, or part of, the end-faces of the article 4 may be covered. Printing matter can be carried on the board and/or the cylinder 2. In one embodiment, one end of the cylinder 2 is closed to form a bag-like arrangement and in another arrangement the board has rearwardly-projecting side flanges 6 so that the package can stand upright for display purposes. The inner surfaces of the cylinder 2c are bonded together at 8, Fig. 7 to form a plurality of cylinders. The board (1) and cylinder (2) with a packaged article (4) may be housed in a box (9) with a transparent lid (10), Fig. 8 (not shown) in a further modification, Fig. 11, the upper part of the cylinder 2 is tucked beneath, and secured to, a cut-out 13, as shown, as the upper end of the cylinder 2 is shrunk on to the corresponding end of the article 4. Alternatively, the cylinder may be secured to the board 1 by a strip of adhesive tape which extends across the cut-out opening and is secured to the back of the board. For packaging heavy articles one, or more, pairs of upper and lower confronting projections (13, 13), Figs. 13 and 14 (not shown) are formed in the board 1.
