1435341 Door and window operating mechanisms G FRANK 15 June 1973 [12 Jan 1973 23 Jan 1973] 28699/73 Heading E2M An actuating mechanism for a door or a window comprises a plate 1 carrying a housing 6 enclosing a rack 4 and drive pinion 3 which is mounted within an edge of the door or window in a profiled cutout formed by cutting a longitudinally extending edge slot 20 and drilling from one side three holes 21, 221, 222 which break into the slot so that the rack and pinion mechanism may be inserted laterally and secured by screws which pass through the opposite un-drilled side and engage threaded holes 16 in two lugs 17 on the housing 6. An operating handle (not shown) is inserted in a square hole in pinion 3.
