Abstract
1435232 Flying shears EVG ENTWICKLUNGS-U VERWERTUNGS GmbH 11 July 1974 [21 Aug 1972] 30844/74 Heading B3W A flying shear comprises arms 5, 6 carrying blades 1 and 2 respectively at one end and being pivoted eccentrically on a shaft 15 with their pivots 13, 14 displaced by 180 degrees about the shaft at the other end. A pivoted link 8 connects the arms. A link 26 couples the arm 6 with a bell-crank 22, 23 carrying a roller 2X held against a cam 20 by a spring 25. The cam is mounted on, or otherwise rotated synchronously with, the shaft 15 which is driven by a worm gear (16, 17), Fig. 3 (not shown). The dimensions are so chosen that after 90 degrees rotation of the shaft 15 the cam-driven link 26 is moving the blade arms 5, 6 in the feed direction G at the same speed as the wire or strip to be sheared and the eccentrics 13, 14 cause the blades 1, 2 to shear. During the next 30 degrees, as the blades move apart they also move faster to facilitate ejection of the severed length.
