Abstract
1435029 Drawing and texturing yarns, guides ATELIERS ROANNAIS DE CONSTRUCTIONS TEXTILES 29 Nov 1973 [29 Jan 1973] 55505/73 Headings D1D and D1F A method of starting combined drawing and texturing machines for synthetic thermoplastic yarn comprises at least partly stretching the yarn, during the starting operation, on a heating element situated upstream of the setting and texturing assembly and then removing the yarn from this heating element when the starting operation has been terminated. The heating element upstream of the setting and texturing assembly comprises a heating element 3, preferably a metallic cylinder, a curved bar 4 pivoted at one of its ends about an axis parallel to the axis of the element 3, yarn guides 5 and 6 at the ends of the bar, a 'bar 7 fixed at the pivot of the bar 4 and carrying a guide 8 at its free end, and a lever 9 also fixed at the said pivot point and operative to pivot the bar 4 so that it at least partially surrounds the element 3. In use, the yarn 1 to be textured is passed through a tensioner 2 and engaged with the yarn guides 10, 8, 5 and 6. The lever 9 is raised so that the bar 4 pivots and the yarn contacts the beating element 3; the yarn can now be manually stretched and threaded through the yarn feeder 11, which is disengaged the heated twist-setting element 12, preferably an electrically heated tube, through the false twist spindle 13, the yarn feeder 14, which is in a slipping condition, and then preferably through a second heating member and on to a wind-up means. The lever 9 is then depressed to disengage the yarn from the heating element 3 and the yarn feeders 11 and 14 are fully engaged. The yarn feeder 11 may be situated upstream of the heating element 3 or between the heating elements 3 and 12. The drawing and false-twisting may be effected simultaneously or sequentially.
