Abstract
1434790 Rotary boilers; heat exchanger tubes L A HUETTNER 27 April 1973 20135/73 Headings F4A and F4S In a rotary boiler a rotor 52, comprising a lower plate 54, a top plate 58 and a peripheral collar 56, is rotated by an electric motor driven shaft 16 and water is fed into the boiler through an inlet 18 of the boiler housing 10 and forced by centrifugal action in the direction of the arrows through a heat exchanger formed by tubes 62, 66 subject to a heat source, the heated water being pumped out through a pump 44 located generally centrally of the housing 10 of the boiler. The triple tube heat exchanger has transverse fins 70 and longitudinal 72 which extend through the fins 70 to provide a forced draught for the flue gases emanating from flames produced in a combustion chamber 34. The transverse fins 70 may increase progressively an area along the tube length (Fig. 3). The fuel used is a pre-mixed gas entering from a pipe 28 and an annular gas chamber 30 such that flames are produced through multiple gas orifices 32.
