Abstract

1434542 Switching circuits; directional switching WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO Ltd 15 Jan 1974 [20 Jan 1973] 3029/73 Headings H3P and H4R A device for transferring information between two terminals INF1 and INF2 in either direction comprises two branches ICY1, ICX1 and ICY3, ICX2 each of which can be enabled to transfer information in a respective one of the two directions between the terminals and control means responsive to an input CON and to the first arriving information signal, to enable the appropriate branch to transfer the first arriving information signal and to inhibit the other branch until a predetermined time after the information signal has ceased. When no data is being transmitted lines INF1 and INF2 are at a logical "1" level and the circuit is enabled by application of a "0" on line CON. In this state points A, B, X, Y, M, N are at "1" and points W, L, P, Z are at "0". If INF1 changes to "0", W changes to "1", X changes to "0" and after a delay determined by the time constant of CX1, BX1 Y changes to "0" to change Z to "1" and B to "0". Thus the output at B follows the input at A with a delay determined by the time constant of CX1, RX1 and any inherent delay in the gates. A number of data sources may be selectively connected to a number of lines by means of a number of such devices selectively enabled by control signals at their CON inputs, Fig. 3 (not shown).
