Abstract

Rectifiers.-A fractional condenser consists of a pipe system a, Fig. 1, each section of which is inclined upwards in the direction of flow of the vapours, and is provided with a delivery pipe b dipping into an open collecting-vessel c. The sections may be formed as a single pipe a, Fig. 1, or, as shown in Fig. 2, the sections a<1>-a<8> may be connected by upward prolongations of the delivery pipes b<1>, b<3> - - b<8>. The nature of the condensates is regulated by collecting the overflows from the vessels c by means of movable troughs d common to two or more of the vessels.
