143,423. Forrest, F. July 8, 1918. Spindle apparatus. - Dead-spindles for spinning, twisting, and like frames are provided with a flanged tube A which carries the bobbin and is provided with an extension A<2>, to bear in a recess in a fixed washer C to provide the necessary drag; to impart a heavier drag, felt, leather, or boxwood washers 'mav be inserted between the flange of the tube and the washer C, the extension A<2> being thereby raised out of contact with the washer. To ensure the bobbin being rotated by the tube, the under face of the bobbin flange or the upper face of the tube flange may be serrated, or washers or driving-pegs may be employed.
