Abstract

1434051 Two-part couplings GENERAL ELECTRIC CO Ltd 5 April 1974 [22 Feb 1973] 8808/73 Heading H2E A socket comprises a resilient plastics body 1 with apertures 15 for receiving contact pins 16 of a complementary plug and contact support means positioned relative to the apertures adapted to support the bored ends of wire cables, the bared ends constituting the socket contacts 2. The socket is intended to connect with the bipin base of a discharge lamp and the body comprises an integral base 4 and hinged 3 lid 5 which are formed with pillars 9, 12, 14 and grooves or recesses 8, 11, 13 for supporting the wire-end contacts 2. Posts 18 integral with the base resiliently urge the wire-end contacts against the pins 16. The lid is snap-closed on to the body by means of projections 7.
