Abstract

1433232 Air filter housing for I.C. engine GENERAL MOTORS Ltd 21 Feb 1974 [10 March 1973] 11660/73 Heading BIT An air intake filter housing for an I.C. engine comprises dished plastics body and cover 2, 3 secured together by circumferentially spaced spring clips 7, pivoted to one member and clipping over the other, rim 12 of cover 3 engaging a continuous or discontinuous flange 11 on body 2, and resilient gasket 10 then being partly but not fully compressed in recess 5 by rim 6 of body 2. Gasket 10 may be a hollow palstics toroid and press-fitted and/or secured by adhesive into recess 5. The arrangement reduces noisy vibration of the cover if the engine heat causes plastics to creep.
