Abstract
1432899 Rolling mills VYZKUMNY USTAV TVARECICH STROJU A TECHNOLOGIE TVARENI 28 March 1974 [13 April 1973] 13899/74 Heading B3M Apparatus for cross-wedge rolling a workpiece 5 employs three rolls 4 carrying wedge tools 1-3, the tools each partially entering a recess in an adjacent tool. Workpieces of smaller diameter than usual are thus able to be rolled. The radial thickness of the tools 1-3 is chosen according to the diameter of workpiece to be rolled, smaller workpieces requiring thicker tools. Each tool Figure 6 has forming surfaces 10, upper smoothing surfaces 11, and a central recess between these surfaces. Fig. 5 indicates how the tips of each tool can pass into the recess of an adjacent tool during rolling.
