Abstract

1432619 Laminated belt constructions INDUSTRIE PIRELLI SpA 20 Dec 1973 [26 Jan 1973] 59146/73 Heading B5N [Also in Division F2] The abrasion-resistance of a transmission belt is improved by applying to the driving surface thereof a fabric which has been impregnated with a solution of a neoprene formulation containing isocyanate, allowing the solvent to evaporate and cross-linking the deposited material. In a modification, the fabric is rubberized at one face only, which face is then applied to an uncured belt body; the assembly is then cured and the aforesaid solution is applied to the non-rubberized face. The cross-linking is achieved in 24 hours at 50-60‹ C. and 100% RH or in 10 days at ambient temperature. A suitable solution comprises 4À5% neoprene, 75% solvent, e.g. toluene, and 15% isocyanate. The belt may be flat, V-shaped or toothed.
