Abstract
1432383 Moulding filters DANFOSS A/S 14 June 1973 [3 July 1972] 28370/73 Heading B5A A method of producing a drying filter comprises the steps of mixing silica gel particles with a powder containing epoxy resin components, the mixing being performed at a temperature below that at which the components react, and subsequently compressing the mixture at a temperature sufficiently high to cause reaction of the components and hardening of the resin. In an example, silica gel particles of mean size 0À5 to 3 mm. were mixed at room temperature with an epoxy resin powder of particle size less than 70 microns and the resulting mixture was pressed for five minutes at 190‹ C. and 20 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP>. After opening of the mould the compact was heated at 190‹ C. for a further two hours to effect complete hardening of the resin. The mixture used preferably contains 5-8% by weight of resin powder. To ensure adherence of the resin powder to the silica gel particles, the powder is preferably electrostatically charged, but this may occur as a result of the mixing process.
