Abstract
1432297 Radio signalling STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 5 April 1974 15237/74 Heading H4L In an arrangement for selectively calling a mobile receiver, e.g. in a transport system, via a succession of lengths of radiating cable coupled together by repeaters, means are provided for effectively energizing only the length of radiating cable adjacent the mobile receiver to be called so that receivers adjacent other lengths are not called. A transmitter is arranged to supply the cable with the radio frequency signal to be radiated and with a non-radiating signal coded with the address signal of a repeater, each repeater having a different address number in accordance with its position along the route. Each repeater includes means for switching the gain of the repeater from a normal level to a higher or a lower level and control means responsive to a coded signal identifying that repeater to cause the switching means to switch the gain to a higher level, sufficient to unmute the receivers, and to a coded signal identifying the immediately preceding repeater to switch the gain to the lower level.
