Abstract
1432027 Automatic voltage regulation SONY CORP 2 Aug 1973 [7 Aug 1972] 36771/73 Heading G3X A circuit suitable for fabrication as an integrated circuit supplies an amplifier with a voltage which is independent of input voltage variations and which is compensated for temperature characteristics of the amplifier. As shown, an amplifier 30 is supplied with a regulated voltage derived from a supply V cc by a network including three pnp transistors and one npn transistor. Transistors 1 and 2 form a constant current source, the regulation of which is improved by feedback through the base-emitter and base-collector circuits of transistors 3 and 4. The constant current produces a constant voltage drop across transistor 3 equivalent to two pn junctions, so that a supply-independent voltage is produced and temperature effects are eliminated if the amplifier 30 has a Darlington form. Different output voltages can be produced by including additional pn junctions between the bases of transistors 3 and 4 or elsewhere in the circuit Figs. 2, 3 (not shown). The output voltage may be taken from an emitter follower stage, Fig. 4 (not shown), and additional diodes or transistors may be included to improve the stabilization, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown).
