Operating and controlling doors by weights and by lever mechanism and cord arrangements.- Relates to means for displaying goods stored at a height in shops &c., by lowering for inspection and subsequently raising. One or more supporting-bars 7 for the goods are provided in a casing C fitted with a door D. The bar 7 is mounted on a lever 4 pivoted to a vertical arm 3 and to a link 5 which is hinged to a fixed lug 6. The arm 3 is mounted on a shaft 1 which also carries a crank 8 to which is pivoted a link 9 hinged to the door D. The door is raised and the bar 7 lowered by a cord 24 which passes over a pulley 13 on an arm 11 fixed to the door and supported by a brace 12, and the reverse process is effected by the same cord passing over a fixed pulley 29 and a pulley 30 mounted on an arm 31 fixed to the shaft 1. The cord 24 emerges out of the casing C after passing over pulleys 16, 17 on a tilting bracket 18 which serves to release a toothed quadrant 23 on the shaft 1 by raising a pivoted pawl 22 each time either side of the cord 24 is pulled. A flap 35 may be integral with the door D or may be separately hinged and be opened by a slotted link 39 engaged by a pin 41 on the arm 3. Instead of the cords 24, arms 11 and 31, brace 12, pawl 22, and bracket 18, a worm, rotated either by a cord or by a handle, may engage the quadrant 23 for raising and lowering the goods.
