Abstract

1431686 Absorbent granules BAYER AG 11 Sept 1973 [12 Sept 1972] 42564/73 Heading B1L A binder-free absorbent for removing gaseous impurities including water vapour from gas mixtures is prepared in granulated form by mixing a molecular-sieve zeolite in finely powdered form with a finely divided activated alumina having a specific surface of at least 260 m<SP>2</SP>/g, hydration of the alumina being avoided during mixing, forming the mixture into granules in the presence of water, storing the granules for at least ten hours and then drying and heating at a temperature of 200 to 500‹C. Various types and compositions of zeolite and alumina are exemplified.
