Abstract

1339220 Preparing granules SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 13 Oct 1972 [15 Oct 1971] 47300/72 Heading A5E A process for the preparation of granules with biocidal activity comprises adding to a mixture containing a biocidal substance and a powdered calcined gypsum consisting entirely or substantially of calcium sulphate hemihydrate (CaSO 4 -¢H 2 O) and/or anhydrous calcium sulphate that is capable of being hydrated as a filler, such an amount of water, under granulation conditions, as is sufficient for the granulation, and wherein, if required, the water is added in the presence of one or more substances that retard the hydration, e.g. citric acid, the composition of the starting mixture and/or the nature and quantity of the retarder, or retarders, being chosen such that hydration takes place substantially after termination of the granulation process, 2, 6-Dichlorothiobenzamide is exemplified and other biocidal substances specified as being suitable for use in the granules.
