Abstract

1431268 Friction clutches AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS Ltd 7 Nov 1973 [23 Nov 1972] 54164/72 Heading F2C A double friction clutch comprises a first driven plate 27 on a first driven shaft 29, engaged between a flywheel 10 and a presser plate 21 by a diaphragm spring 32, and a second driven plate 37 on a second driven shaft 39 engaged between an annular plate 14 bolted to the flywheel 10 and a presser plate 36 by a diaphragm spring 46, release levers 61 being connected by tension links 63 to the presser plate 21 so that pivoting of the levers 61 disengages the drive to shaft 29 through plate 27, and the inner ends of the release levers engaging a ring 54 fixed to the inner periphery of spring 47 to disengage the drive through driven plate 37 on further movement of the levers 61. A release bearing (not shown) pivots levers 61 through engagement with heads 66 of bolts 65, the opposite ends of the bolts engaging the ring 54. Straps 22 connect the presser plate 21 to the annular plate 14 and straps 41 interconnect the presser plate 36 and a cover member 16. The shaft 29 may be the drive-shaft of a tractor, and the shaft 39 a power take-off shaft, the drive being disconnectible whilst the power take-off is still driven, by partial depression of a clutch pedal.
