Abstract
1431265 Spreading incombustible dust in mines SCHWARZ HOLYWELL LTD 10 Jan 1974 [27 Oct 1972] 49556/72 Heading AID Apparatus which blows incombustible dust over the floor of a mine comprises an air compressor 9 which is driven by the rotation of the wheels or axle of a towable bogie 1 via the intermediary of clutches and chains or gears. The wheels or axle have appropriate toothed sprockets 3. The air intake to the compressor is filtered by a filter 12 and is conveyed from the compressor along a duct 13 which communicates with dust hopper 16 whereby the dust is drawn from the hopper and discharged via a pivotal diffuser head 19. A manually operated clutch is provided to enable the bogie to be towed without the compressor being operated and a uni-directional clutch 10 prevents reverse drive of the compressor when the bogie is towed backwards. Pressure relief valve 14 and non-return valve 15 are included.
