Abstract

1431079 Anti-skid brake control WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKONBUHRLE AG 2 Oct 1973 [25 Oct 1972] 45871/73 Heading F2F In a vehicle having two bogies each having two axles, the rotational speeds of the axles on each bogie are compared, and a brake release signal generated if, in either bogie, the difference exceeds a predetermined amount, and the speed of the faster axle, if any, of one bogie is compared with that of such an axle of the other bogie, a brake release signal being generated for the slower axle of the two, if the difference exceeds a predetermined amount. A brake valve actuates the brakes for each bogie according to the pressure difference between a brake line and a control reservoir associated with the valve. The supply for the controller is controlled by series switches SK1, SK2 controlled by threshold switches PS1, PS2 respectively taking inputs via OR gates G1, G2 from the highest speed signal of the axles fed through rectifiers GR1, GR2, GR3, GR4 from tachogenerators M1 to M4. Upon the highest speed value attaining an input value #U to the switch PS2, the supply is transmitted to the controller. Since the operation of each valve V1, V2 for release of brakes of each bogie is the same, operation of the valve V1 will be described. D.C. speed signals for each axle of the bogie are compared at a switch DS1 which provides a signal (if the difference exceeds a given amount) to the valve; these signals also pass to an OR gate G11 which transmits the higher signal to one input of a switch DS3, the other input of which being applicable to the other bogie. The switch DS3 provides a signal, if the input difference exceeds a given amount, to the valve for the bogie which provided the lower signal. A bi-stable multivibrator FF1 has a set (A) input actuated by either of acceleration threshold signals of the axles of the bogie from differential threshold switches D1, D3 via an OR gate G7. Thus upon axle acceleration, no output is provided from the multivibrator FF1. Upon a deceleration of either axle attaining a preset value, as indicated by switches D2, D4 (similar to D1, D3), a reset (B) input to the multivibrator FF1 provides a signal to the valve V1 for brake release. This signal is intermittent, since the input to the reset input of FF1 is also fed through a timing delay member Z1 to the set (A) input to cut off the signal. However, a continued input from the switches D2 or D4 allows the reset input to be provided again.
