Abstract

1431006 Surfactant solution effective in the presence of hard water TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP 14 March 1974 11291/74 Heading C5D [Also in Division El] A surfactant solution comprises from 0À01 to 1À25% by weight of a sulphated aliphatic anionic surfactant, from 0À05 to 5À00% by weight of a water soluble guanidine salt, and from 0À02 to 0À50% by weight of a nonionic surfactant. The sulphated aliphatic anionic surfactant has the formula where R is an aliphatic chain having from 8 to 20 carbon atoms and M is a water-soluble cation, e.g. sodium, potassium or ammonia. The nonionic surfactant is a polyethoxylated aliphatic alcohol. The guanidine salt e.g. improves the solubility and effectiveness of the surfactants in the presence of high concentrations of calcium and magnesium ions.
