Abstract

1430687 Propellers TUXON BRONZE Ltd 28 June 1974 [6 July 1973] 32240/73 Heading B7V [Also in Division F2] A boat's propeller hub contains a clutch between the shaft 26 and the hub casing 12, to limit the torque applied to the hub, e.g. if the blades strike an obstruction, or becomes fouled. The clutch consists of at least one annular rubber disc 24 or 25 disposed respectively between radial surfaces 13, 14 on the hub casing and radial surfaces 20, 21 on an assembly 17, 18 splined to the shaft 26. The torque at which the clutch slips is adjustable by screwing or unscrewing the part 18 on the part 17. The radial surfaces 13, 14, 20, 21 are faced with friction lining 15, 16, 23, 24. A grub screw 31 prevents the members 17, 18 from unscrewing during reverse running.
