Abstract

1430485 Testing audio transducers S G BROWN COMMUNICATIONS Ltd 4 Oct 1974 [9 Oct 1973] 47134/73 Heading H4J An artificial head for testing head-sets comprises a pair of relatively movable parts 10, 11 each carrying an artificial ear 15, 16, i.e. a microphone, against which in use the earpieces of the headset are placed, and an artificial voice 20, i.e. a loud-speaker, which carries a spacing means 25 against which a microphone of the headset is placed. The artificial vcice is rotatable about a vertical axis to accommodate the different off-centre positions of the headset microphone. The voice may be detachable so as to be usable to calibrate the ears, as shown in dotted outline 39. The voice may be provided with a plug-in nose and chin assembly to provide support in the case that the headset forms part of an oxygen mask. Attachments rendering the head suitable for testing other transducers, e.g. a telephone handset, may be provided.
