1430317 Substituted 1,2,4-triazoles CIBAGEIGY AG 18 June 1973 [19 June 1972 4 May 1973] 28770/73 Heading C2C Novel 1,2,4-triazoles have the Formula Ia wherein R<SP>1</SP> 1 represents an alkylthio, alkylsulphinyl or alkylsulphonyl group each containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms, an alkenylthio, alkenylsulphinyl, alkenylsulphonyl, alkynylthio, alkynylsulphinyl or alkynylsulphonyl group each containing 3 or 4 carbon atoms or a group of formula R<SP>1</SP> 2 represents C 1-6 alkyl, vinyl allyl, 2-methallyl or propargyl, with the proviso that when R<SP>1</SP> 1 is CH 3 SR<SP>1</SP> 2 is other than CH 3 ; R<SP>1</SP>, represents C 1-6 alkyl, C 1-6 alkoxy, vinyl, allyl, 2-methallyl or propargyl; R 4 represents hydrogen, C 1-6 alkyl, or an alkenyl or alkynyl group each of 3 or 4 carbon atoms; and R 5 represents C 1-6 alkyl, C 1-6 alkoxy, or an alkenyl or alkynyl group each of 3 or 4 carbon atoms or -NR 4 R 5 represents a saturated heterocyclic ring optionally containing O or S atoms. The triazoles of Formula Ia are prepared using the following reaction schemes A, B and C in which Me stands for an alkali metal atom, R is C 1-5 alkyl, C 3-4 alkenyl or C 3-4 alkynyl, R<SP>11</SP> 2 represents C 1-6 alkyl, vinyl, allyl, 2-methallyl or propargyl, R<SP>11</SP> 3 represents C 1-6 alkyl, C 1-6 alkoxy, allyl, 2-methallyl or propargyl and oxidants used in C are H 2 O 2 or peracids The preparations are generally carried out at normal pressure, at 0-150‹ C. and in solvents or diluents. The invention also comprises pesticidal compositions comprising the triazoles of Formula Ia including those triazoles excluded by the proviso. The examples describe the preparation of many compounds of Formula I wherein R<SP>1</SP> 1 is CH 3 S-, n-C 3 H 7 S-, CH 3 SO 2 -, n-C 3 H 7 SO 2 -, -N(CH 3 ) 2 , or morpholino; R<SP>1</SP> 2 is CH 3 ; and R<SP>1</SP> 3 is CH 3 -, n-C 3 H 7 , i-C 3 H 7 , CH 3 O-, vinyl, or allyl.
