Abstract
1429946 Balancing; non-rotating work DR REUTLINGER & SOHNE 16 March 1973 [26 June 1972] 12786/73 Headings B3B and B3T [Also in Division F2] Out-of-balance mass is removed from a rotatable body 1 by a milling cutter 4 movable along an arc (e.g. rotated) whose axis is parallel to the axis of rotation of the body, the body being held stationary (e.g. by clamps 2) and the radius of the cutting arc being greater than the local radius of the body. As shown the cutter 4 is fixed in a holder 5 rotated by a motor 18 in a carrier 6 slidable normal to Fig. 2 in a frame 7 which can be rotated by a stepping motor 9, to locate the cut and to extend it. The assembly 4 ... 8 may also be movable axially to widen the cut. Alternatively, Figs. 4 and 5, the frame 7 may be non-rotatable, but in a carriage slidable normal to the carriage 6. The or each carriage may be movable in its frame and be controlled by a computer fed with out-of-balance measurements.
