1429897 Cameras FRANKE & HEIDECKE GmbH 12 Feb 1974 [7 March 1973] 6324/74 Heading G2A A camera 1 has an exposure meter needle 7 which sets the diaphragm automatically according to ambient light intensity; attachment of a flash device 2 being arranged to move a pin 9 into the path of the needle to limit its movement and thereby limit the maximum value to which the diaphragm can be set while allowing smaller apertures to be set by the needle if ambient light intensity is sufficiently high. As shown, a projection 5 on flash 2 moves a rod 13 to release a lever 8 carrying pin 9. Lever 8 rotates until it abuts a slide 15, whose position thereby determines the position of pin 9. The maximum diaphragm value is obtained by dividing the guide number of the flash device by the maximum distance at which the device can be used. The guide number is determined by the power of the device and the sensitivity of the film. To accommodate choice in the latter, a film speed indicating notch 20 in a cassette 19 determines the position of the slide 15.
