Abstract

1429796 Fillers for use in paper manufacture ASSOCIATED PORTLAND CEMENT MFRS Ltd 25 June 1973 [23 June 1972] 13740/72 Headings C1A and C1N [Also in Division D2] A filler for use in paper making is prepared by gelling a colloidal solution of flour (2-20% of the weight of the filler) in the presence of an uncoated filler. The filler may be acid-reactive, e.g. natural chalk whiting, or may be china clay or titania. The colloidal solution of the flour may be prepared using NaOH or Na silicate and gelled using aluminium sulphate, calcium chloride or borax. The flour has starch as its major constituent and has a content of at least 4% of vegetable protein.
