Abstract
1429589 Burners SOC NATIONALE D'ETUDE ET DE CONSTRUCTION DE MOTEURS D'AVIATION 13 June 1974 [28 June 1973] 26205/74 Heading F4T In a fuel injector for a gas turbine, an intermediate annular flow containing fuel and rotated by a swirler 12 is sandwiched between internal and external flows of air rotated by swirlers 4, 8, the injector being constructed in the form of two sub-assemblies A, B which can slide relatively to one another to accommodate temperature changes and are adapted to be attached to different parts of the turbine structure. A part annular rib (not shown) deflects part of the fuel/air flow before it reaches the ribs 16 to accelerate rotation and improve mixing while the swirler 4 has its blades inclined at a smaller angle to the flow than those of the swirler 8. A thermal screen 24 is welded to the sub-assembly A which is screwed into the combustion chamber 22 and additionally secured by a screwed ring 26. The sub-assembly B is integral with an arm 28 through which fuel is supplied to a nozzle 9. End caps (not shown) combine the inner, outer and intermediate flows as they leave the injector.
