Abstract

1429430 Electro-plating, cleaning apparatus J L BEAUD 4 Sept 1974 [11 Sept 1973] 38567/74 Headings C7B and C7E Parts are treated e.g. electro-plated or cleaned by successive immersion in at least two baths housed in at least two reservoirs 8 and sent successively into a treatment vessel 4 situated above the reservoirs and where the immersion takes place, each bath being sent to the vessel by an overpressure e.g. created by air pressure chamber 16 inside each reservoir, and the transfer of each bath from the vessel to each reservoir being made by a siphon 9, preferably further ensured by capillary siphons 15, 20; a double elbow rinsing siphon 17 may be provided connecting the vessel trough 4b with a drain 18 to evacuate rinsing liquid e.g. water admitted via conduit 19. Overpressure may be created by applying air pressure to a flexible walled chamber 16 inside each reservoir to drive each bath to the vessel e.g. via branch 9b of the siphon 9 which is surrounded by a filter 14. The vessel may be cylindrical and traversed by a rod 5 carrying at least one basket 7 with helicoidal ramps for containing the parts to be treated and fitted at the bottom with a vibrator 6 to give it rotating oscillating and vibrating motion. For plating only one insoluble anode is used.
