1429151 Tetrahydropyran derivatives ROUSSELUCLAF 9 Jan 1974 [9 Jan 1973] 01032/74 Heading C2C [Also in Division A5] Racemic α - [4 - (4<SP>1</SP> - tetrahydropyranyl) - 3- chlorophenyl]-propanol is prepared by refluxing in aqueous hydrochloric acid the sodium salt of # - methyl - # - [4 - (4<SP>1</SP> - tetrahydropyranyl) - 3- chlorophenyl-glycidic acid obtained by reacting sodium in ethanol with ethyl - # - methyl - #- [4 - (4<SP>1</SP> - tetrahydropyranyl) - 3 - chlorophenyl]- glycidate obtained by reacting 3-chloro-4-(4<SP>1</SP>- tetrahydropyranyl) - acetophenone in toluene with ethyl chloroacetate and sodium in ethanol.
