Abstract
1428854 Electric cables JEUMONTSCHNEIDER 10 July 1973 [31 July 1972] 32945/73 Heading H1A A cable for three-phase medium-voltage (e.g. 10-20 kV) underground distribution has phase conductors 1 each comprising a core 3 with insulation 5 surrounded by a conductive screen 6 which in turn is protected by an insulating sheath 7, the phase conductors 1 being twisted around a corrosion-resistant bare earth conductor 2. The screens 6, which are intended to carry only earth-phase fault currents, may comprise metal strips or thin extruded lead tubes. The bare earth conductor 2, intended to provide earth continuity for the distribution system, may comprise an aluminium or copper conductor covered with lead. The insulations 5, 7 may be of synthetic material.
