Abstract
1428719 Conduit flow control means COLLOID-A-TRON INTERNATIONAL Inc 9 Nov 1973 [15 Nov 1972] 52227/73 Heading F2P An elongate rod for countering deposition on and wear of a conduit by flow of fluid therethrough and adapted for insertion into the conduit has a substantially triangular cross-section, each side thereof having a longitudinally extending outwardly concave arcuate surface and a plurality of projections which extend outwardly from each surface. As shown the rod 10 is formed with tapered noses 12, 14 and inwardly bowed sides 16, 18, 20. It may also have lugs 28 for engagement of the inner surface of a conduit (Fig. 2, not shown) and projections 30 on the inwardly bowed surfaces. In another embodiment (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) the rod has a central passageway (42) of similar configuration to that of the bowed surfaces and is secured in the conduit by locating washers (36). Preferably the rod is made of an alloy of by weight 40-50% copper, 20-30% zinc, 15-25% nickel and 9-15% tin and incidental impurities.
