Abstract

1,266,487. Pipe. GEORG FISCHER A.G. 13 March, 1970 [26 March, 1969], No. 12292/70. Heading F2P. A pipe 1 for internally supporting a pipe 7 includes .two segments 2, 4 whose edges 5, 6 are shaped with female and male co-operating surfaces respectively. Insertion of segment 4 into segment 2 expands the diameter of the pipe 1 so that by placing the segment 2 within the pipe 7 and then axially sliding into position the segment 4 prevents undue stress being placed -upon the pipe 7 during assembly. One or both segments 2, 4 may be made of plastics or metal. Figs. 2, 3, 5 (not shown) illustrate alternative tongue and groove arrangements with which the edges 6, 5 may be formed instead of the V-shaped type illustrated. The external surface of the segment 4 may be formed with ridges to facilitate gripping of the pipe 7 and similarly the edge 5 may also be ridged to prevent the segments 2, 4 slipping apart -when assembled. The ends of the bore of the assembled pipe 1 may be flared, Fig. 8 (not shown), to reduce the resistance to fluid flow therethrough.
