1427744 Protecting pipes WHITLOCK Inc 11 May 1973 22608/73 Heading F2P [Also in Division H1] A protective device 10, Fig. 5, for wrapping round a pipe or cable 12 consists of a preformed helical member with spaced turns composed of alternating layers of elastomer 16 and fabric 18, Fig. 2. The end turns may be secured by clips encircling them. The spaces between the turns may be filled with elastomeric material 20, Fig. 3, tending to force the turns apart to tighten their grip on the pipe or cable. This material may be grooved as at 22, 23 to increase its flexibility. The side faces of the member 10 may be inclined inwardly, Fig. 2.
