Abstract

1,071,043. Band clamps. JURID WERKE G.m.b.H. Jan.21. 1965, No. 2750/65. Heading E2B. A pipe clamp comprises a strap 1 a first end portion of which is provided with a series of outwardly directed teeth 3 and a longitudinally extending groove in the outer surface thereof and the second end portion of which is provided with an inwardly directed tooth 6 and an inwardly directed lug 8, the second end portion being arranged to overlap the first end portion so that as the length of overlap is increased the inwardly directed tooth engages successively with one after another of the series of outwardly directed teeth and during this movement the inwardly directed lug engages with the longitudinally extending groove thereby inhibiting relative lateral movement of the two end portions. In the construction shown the strap is provided with an outwardly directed lug 4, 7 adjacent each of its ends which are engageable by a tool 20 to enable the strap to be tightened around a hose pipe. The clamp can be released from the hose pipe by using a screw driver to disengage the tooth 6 from tooth 3 which it engages. The teeth 3 are disposed at right angles to the length of the strap in the construction shown, but in a modification they can be arranged in a herring-bone array the tooth 6 being suitably modified.
