1427518 Formwork props ACROW (ENGS) Ltd 20 Feb 1973 [10 April 1972 20 July 1972] 16480/72 and 34064/72 Heading E1S A prop head for supporting ceiling, floor or like shuttering on a prop comprises a stem which carries a top transverse support plate 24 at one end and is screw-threaded along at least part of its length at 22 and is mounted in use on the upper end of a prop 4, and intermediate and lower transverse support plates 54 and 28 which are slidably mounted on the stem and are adjustably positionable thereon by a nut 34 engaged with the screwthread 22. The plates 28 of an array of props in use carry cross-beams 36 which in turn carry shutters 40, and further narrower shutters 56 are carried by the plates 54, whereby when the cast concrete has partially set, the nuts 34 may be screwed downwardly thus lowering the plates 28 and 54 and the beams 36 and shutters 40 and 56, which may be removed and re-used, leaving the ceiling or the like supported by the props through the plates 24 until fully set. The plates 28, 54 are fixedly connected by a sleeve 30 slidable on the stem, and their uppermost position is determined by a stop collar 52 on the stem. The heights of the support plates and beams such that the shuttering members, when raised, are flush with the top plates 24. The stem may have a flange 48 at its lower end for bolting to a flange 46 on the prop 4, or may be slidably received in the prop and supported by a further nut on the screwthread 22.
