Abstract

1427486 Boots &c SUSAN SHOE INDUSTRIES Ltd 5 April 1974 15425/74 Heading A3B An insole for a shoe or sandal comprises a base 18, a liner pad 16, and a cover 14, the base having side edges and several lugs 22 projecting inwardly from the side edges and outwardly foldable from the plane of the base. The lugs 22 may be formed by cutting through the thickness of the base 18. The insole is assembled such that extended marginal edges of the cover 14 are folded round the edges of the pad 16 and base 18, and stuck to the underside of the base 18. The lugs 22 are folded outwardly and secured to the lower edges of an upper 12 by means of staples 24 or by stitching. If the upper and base are made of thermoplastic materials, the connection may be made by thermal bonding. A sole 20 is secured to the underside of the insole in the conventional manner. The separate liner pad 16 and cover 14 may be replaced by a single sheet of e.g. "self-skin" polyurethane foam.
