Abstract

1427452 Brushes P NOGUES 12 Feb 1974 [26 Feb 1973 30 May 1973] 06402/74 Heading A4K A cylindrical hair-brush comprises a shaft T upon which is rotatably mounted a bristle-carrying hub M, the hub M being engageable via a coupling (e.g. by a dog-clutch) with a rotatably mounted and axially slidable handle-part, a further handlepart being provided which is fixed to the stem. A spring may be provided which tends to engage the coupling. In one embodiment, Fig. 3, handle-part P is rotatable and axially slidable on stem T and is engageable with hub M via dog-clutch 6, 7. Handle-part B is fixed to the stem and a spring is provided between handle-parts P and B to urge the dog-clutch 6, 7 into engagement. In another embodiment, Fig. 4, handle-part Ba is rotatable and slidable while part Pa is fixed to shaft T. In use, the two handle parts may be separated against the action of spring 4 so that the hub is rotatable when the brush is drawn along the hair during blow-drying. A frictional drag may be exerted on the hub by insert 3, Fig. 3, screw R, Fig. 3, or by the fingers of the user.
