1427221 Two part coupling ERCO-LEUCHTEN GmbH 23 May 1973 24624/73 Heading H2E An overhead connecting and mounting track and adapter for electrical fixtures comprises an elongated metal channel member 9 to be recessed in a ceiling with its open underside exposed, having in its base two conducting contact strips 64 arranged to grip resiliently blade contacts inserted from below. A junction box 11 at one end of the channel, mounted above the ceiling, couples the mains supply, fed through a knock-out 23 to the contact strips 64 running along insulating troughs 57. The lower part of the junction box matches the channel in cross-section, and is coupled to it by side strips in grooves, clamped by pressure from screws tapped into the strips (Fig. 5, not shown). The fused adapter unit 12 (see Fig. 11) mounted on appliance conduit 79 can be inserted at any lengthwise position, with blades 133, 139 engaging the conductor strips. Before the blades engage, grounding contacts 160 touch the channel walls, and on complete insertion latch into place via detents 163 (Fig. 9) behind shoulders 45a. Removal is by displacing finger pieces 165 to free detents. Under hinged cover-plate 122 in insulating body 91 a cartridge fuse completes the circuit between the blades and wires passing up conduit 79, through base-plate 76 and a thin insulating plate, finally being trapped in a shallow cavity in the base of body 91 where they are connected to one blade and to one fuse clip. The body and base-plate and spring metal strips which terminate in finger pieces 165 and ground contacts 160 are all held together by two screws 156.
