Abstract

1426867 Making pipes fluid - tight S H MILLER 18 May 1973 [21 Feb 1972] 7987/72 Heading F2P In a method of rendering a conduit fluidtight, e.g. at a joint, an open-weave textile web filled with finely divided anhydrous gypsum is applied to the conduit, the web being either previously or subsequently wetted with an aqueous emulsion or dispersion of a polymer of a monoethylenically unsaturated ester and being allowed to dry out in contact with the conduit surface. The ester preferably contains not more than 6 carbon atoms, e.g. vinyl or allyl alkanoate, or alkyl acrylate or methacrylate. The emulsion or dispersion also contains surface active agents and/or stabilizing agents.
