Abstract

1426660 Cutting apparatus USINES DECOUFLE 31 Jan 1974 [22 Feb 1973] 04568/74 Heading B4B A device for cutting a web 20 of paper into predetermined lengths comprises a rotatable carrier 1 for cutting elements 5 adapted to cooperate with inserts 18 fitted into the periphery of an anvil drum 12 over which the web travels, the inserts being mounted such thatthey position themselves automatically parallel to the cutting edges of the elements during operation of the device. The cutting elements 5 are held in grooves 4 formed in the carrier by means of plates 6, 7; the carrier is rotatably journalled on shafts 2, 3 which are dimensioned such as to permit a slight flexing as the cutting edges abut the surfaces of the inserts. The inserts are each pivotally mounted on a respective pin 15, Fig. 2, fixed in a support element 14; retaining pins 16, 17 are also provided in the element for engagement with clearance holes in the insert. The web and severed lengths are held on the surface of the anvil drum by suction, ports (not shown) being formed in the elements 14.
